Mixed Emotions

There are mixed emotions I felt upon arrival at the airport one Sunday morning. I am expecting that friends and only close relatives of mine were the ones who’ll possibly be around. But, how elated really I am, since my expectation turns out different as almost all of my known friends were present aside from a considerable number of immediate family members. From thereon, sharing of pleasantries started while exiting on our way towards a waiting vehicle. Thereafter, I noticed that a middle-aged woman who seemed familiar but could not exactly recall her affiliations with us came nearer, and curious enough I politely inquired as to her connections with the family. Only to be amazed upon recognizing later on, as it turns out that she was the elder sister of my better half. Well, she explained briefly that such was a result of the anti aging products which I sent her few months ago.

Breastfeeding ‘Wards Off Baby Infections’

Greek researchers have suggested that the composition of breast milk helps babies fight infections.

World experts already recommend that infants are exclusively breastfed for at least the first six months of life.

For the study, the researchers tracked the health of 926 infants for a period of 12 months, recording any common infections these babies had during their first year of life.

Overall, 91 of the infants were exclusively breastfed for a full six months. [Read more...]

Occasional Sleeping Problems

At last, for more than a decade seeing one of my close friends during a get-together really was a remarkable thing did happened. Really, it’s been such a long time where we usually used to hang out in one of the busy clubs at the metropolitan area. Well, I’ve observe that as if nothing has changed physically, only that he’s no longer the same guy who used to go sleep while some of his friends were still on festive atmosphere busy conversing with each other. And thanks to herbal sleep aid I earlier gave him which is really effective in controlling some of his occasional sleeping problems.

China Draws In Hotel Giants

International hoteliers, with New York-listed Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Malaysia’s Hong Leong Group to the fore, are riding the country’s property boom to open new hotels at a dizzying pace, seduced by the potential of China and hurt by weak economies elsewhere.

Undeterred by talk of a growing property bubble, Chinese developers are building palace-like hotels – each competing to be larger and more luxurious than the last – and inviting international companies to manage them.

The study shows how components of cigarette smoke enter the bloodstream and affect seemingly unconnected parts of the body like the reproductive tract

Scientists have discovered why women who smoke have a higher risk of developing ectopic pregnancies.

Ectopic pregnancies occur when the fertilised egg becomes implanted outside the womb, usually in the fallopian tubes.

There are around 30,000 cases in the UK each year but female smokers have quadruple the risk of developing this condition. [Read more...]

A Physical Reminder

Regular physical activity enhances health and reduces the risk of various chronic diseases.

A sedentary lifestyle is a cause of weight gain, overweight and obesity. Overweight and obesity, in turn, are causes of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancers.

Another important cause of weight gain, overweight and obesity is unhealthy eating habits. These chronic diseases are therefore caused by unhealthy eating pattern and sedentary lifestyles. Prevention of these diseases must therefore be targeted towards these two main causes.

The Malaysian Dietary Guidelines (MDG) 2010 aims at promoting appropriate dietary patterns and active living. I have summarised the 14 key messages contained in the MDG 2010 and delved in detail two of the key messages in previous write ups. [Read more...]
